WELCOME!

Welcome to my blog. Thanks for dropping by. Hope you'll stay and enjoy reading about where I've been and what I've been doing!

I don't mean this to be a replacement for personal emails, but it gives me the chance to put up photos and my scrapbook layouts, so I don't block up your in-boxes, or have to send the same photos and stories to everyone separately!
Thanks, and welcome, to the followers of my blog. I'm very honoured that you enjoy it. Drop me some comments from time to time! It's good to hear what you think about the posts. Come back again soon.

Thanks also to Mary of Mary's Mixes for doing all the work on the blog's heading. You are great, Mary!

Up to Queenstown

Hello again. I promised we'd go travelling, so here we go, heading along the south coast then turning north to Te Anau before reaching Queenstown.
parasurfing along the south coast near Riverton

The road to the west

The first view of the Southern Alps

From the lakefront at Te Anau the little seaplane does trips around the area for visitors

Te Anau

Reflections at Te Anau

Autumn colour along Lake Te Anau

The Kingston Flyer used to carry passengers and goods from Invercargill and Gore to the southern end of Lake Wakatipu at Kingston. Today it runs as a tourist attraction on 14km of track between Fairlight and Kingston. Here it is leaving Fairlight.

Low sun on the southern part of Lake Wakatipu

Deer are farmed in NZ in much the same way sheep and cattle are.

The Remarkables were given the name because early geologists thought the way the mountain range had been tilted by the movement of the earth was remarkable!

Views around Queenstown , the sporting capital of New Zealand!

Queenstown Wharf

Walter's Peak, Lake Wakatipu, from Queenstown

Parasailing on the lake

View of the Remarkables from Queenstown Lodge where I stayed.

Autumn colours and reflections in the park

The Skyline Gondolas start from here and take you up the hillside, past the bunjee platform to the top station where there is a viewing terrace, restaurant, souvenir shop, and the chance of more sporting activities as well as walking.

Me on the viewing terrace, the town below and the Remarkables behind! Shame the guy who took the photograph got me in the centre! It would have been a nicer shot taken more to the right, looking down the lake.

Someone just jumped from the bunjee platform

Looking down from the terrace. The lower promontary is the park, the upper one will probably soon be all suburbs! The bunjee platform is visible at the bottom edge of the shot.

Residential Queenstown

Goodnight, Queenstown!

and goodnight to you too! We'll travel on up the west coast next time.
Talk again soon.
